The WidowX Robot Arm Mark II, from Interbotix Labs, is an upgraded entry-level robotic arm featuring MX series DYNAMIXEL Servos. Designed based on rigorous testing and customer feedback, the Mark II boasts significant enhancements for smoother, stronger, and more precise performance.

    Key Improvements:

    • Enhanced Strength: Upgraded the elbow servo from an MX-28 to a MX-64, paired with custom aluminum brackets for improved frame strength and durability.
    • Lighter and Simpler Design: Streamlined structure makes the arm easier to use and more efficient without sacrificing power.
    • Improved Electronics: Replaced the ArbotiX with the advanced ArbotiX-M for superior control and connectivity.

    Performance Highlights:

    • 360° Freedom of Movement: Full rotation at the base for flexible positioning.
    • High Resolution: Ultra-fine control with 4096 positions, ideal for tasks requiring high accuracy.
    • Smooth Control: User-definable PID parameters ensure precise motion and interpolation.
    • Powerful Actuators: MX-64 servos in the shoulder and elbow provide strong lifting capacity in a slim, lightweight frame.

The WidowX Robot Arm Mark II is an excellent choice for applications requiring medium lifting strength, smooth operation, and reliable repeatability, making it a standout mid-level robotic arm.

    Impressive speed and strength

    Pros:

      Cons:

I've used cheap arms in the past that could hardly pick up their own weight. This arm was a pleasant surprise with it's speed and ability to handle decent loads. However, I was only moving something like the weight of a small tablet.

The motion is pretty smooth. It was enough for my needs. Easy to use with ROS as well. Overall, I have been very satisfied. My only usage comment is that I would tape foam around it when first programming the arm. It's a pretty powerful arm to have it swing into itself with a user error.

I would recommend this arm as an affordable product for robotic experiments and testing...very good value.
